Nature Therapy Near Me

The birdsongs call our attention and bring us out of our head a little more. We begin to notice the wind, and we take a deeper breath. As we move toward the river, the reflections on the moving water releases some of the tension in our shoulders. Welcome to outdoor therapy. It’s a place where we can experience healing through nature.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist and have been in practice for 20 years, my specialty is offering outdoor psychotherapy and addressing eco anxiety. I work with people who are looking to understand themselves better and improve their relationships, and who are experiencing a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety about the state of the earth. When we are in nature we are reminded of the earth’s resilience and our own resilience. I witness ways nature based therapy improves mental health, reduces stress, and enhances well being. Our racing thoughts slow down and we become more present, we ground ourselves in our senses and remember where we are and who we are, we gain wider perspective on the difficulties we are facing, and we begin to feel more empowered for what choices we have.

I am privileged to offer outdoor therapy near Guelph, Hamilton, Ancaster, Burlington and surrounding areas, as well as phone and virtual therapy so that you can be outside where you are while we meet. Wherever you are, I invite you to take a moment to pause and attune to the earth. Notice what it feels like to slow down and pay attention. People often feel a sense of gratitude and awe, the beauty of nature enlivens a grounded sense of calm and respect for the earth. These are bonds that can transform us, in our relationship within ourselves, in our relationship with others, and in our relationship with the wider earth. If this sounds fitting for you, I welcome you to reach out. I invite you into this healing space.

Sincerely,

Melissa Clews-Hunt, MSc, RP, RMFT(S)
